The Audi TT is a two-door compact sports car now in its second generation. The original TT was available both in 2+2 coupe and two-seater roadster. The TT is one of those car types that really lend themselves to tuning. Several tuning companies have tried their hand at modifying the Audi TT, and some were more successful than the others.
The AVUS Audi TT-RS 460 is a prime example of tuning that did wonders. The tuned version has en engine with power of 340bhp and 332 lb/ft of torque it is capable of doing the jump from 0 to 60 in 4.6 seconds. The car’s suspension was also improved, and now the TT can run smoothly over country roads and city streets alike. AVUS’s new catchphrase seems to be something along the lines “gloss in out, matt is in”, because all of their models have had their gloss taken out of them.
ABT Sportline specializes in tuning Audis. Their version of the TT has an upgraded engine, with faster pull away, more torque, more power and improved acceleration. Their TT roadster has a very clever engine management and a dynamic design. Tuned variants of the Audi TT have appeared in science fiction films, which just shows what an amazing potential for tuning the TT really has.
The German-based tuning specialist B&B has also released a special programme for the amazingly powerful Audi TT. B&B offers power upgrades, chassis modifications and 4, 6 and 8-stroke braking systems as well as short shift adaptations. But that’s not nearly all. Big-shot tuning companies such as Senner, Cargraphic, MTM, JMS and many others have all tinkered with the malleable Audi TT, releasing their own innovative versions.
