Maserati GranTurismo S tuning

The Maserati GranTurismo S was not a big surprise of the 2007 Geneva Motor Show, but only because everybody expected Maserati to turn out something really amazing. The GranTurismo S does not disappoint, as the standard version has a 4.2 litre V8 engine with 405 PS (298 kW; 399 hp) and automatic ZF gearbox 6 speed. But tuning companies have proved time and time again that even the most successful car can be tweaked.

Novitec Tridente redefines the classic Maserati GranTurismo S with their new tuning package. The 440 horsepower output of the original model was buffed up to 600 hp. Now the supercar can jump from 0 to 100km/h in only 4.5 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 315 km/h. Novitec also adds a KW/Novitec suspension and staggered NM3 five-spoke wheels measuring 20x9 up front and 21x12.5 at the rear. The car’s body was tastefully modified with the addition of a front spoiler, rear wing, skirt and rocker panel extensions.

Elite Carbon is another tuning company that released their own spin on the GranTurismo S. Elite Carbon's bodykit includes a new front bumper with exposed carbon fiber lip and brake intake surrounds, a rear deck spoiler, side skirts with exposed carbon fiber lip and lower sections, and a rear diffuser.

Maserati even created their own tuning package custom made for the GranTurismo S. The programme was revealed at the 2009 Bologna Auto Show, and promises to add new aerodynamic and mechanical solutions that will improve both power and design.

Maserati tuning packages are not exactly widespread, but they all come with something really ingenious to add to an already great car.
